Friday, June 23rd started out as an ordinary workday for Rachel Turner. She arrived 15 minutes before the evening shift began at the restaurant where she had worked for three years as a cook and waitress. She was in the locker room changing into her uniform when her manager, Kim Saunders, started pounding on the door. "Come out Rachel, I need to talk to you!" Kim ordered. "I'm changing. I'll be out in a minute," Rachel replied. "I want you out here right now! Change back into your street clothes and come to my office." Wondering what was up, Rachel finished changing anyway, and then made her way to the manager's office. "What can I do for you?" she said politely. "Rachel, I'm putting you on suspension for a week." "Why?" Rachel gasped, in shock. "I've received some serious allegations of improper work performance, and I have to suspend you for a week while we investigate." "What improper work performance?" Rachel asked, in disbelief. "You've been accused of tampering with a customer's food." "What?! That's not true! Why would I do that?" Rachel exclaimed. "What evidence do you have? I want Dwight to hear this!" Friday, June 23rd started out as an ordinary workday for Rachel Turner.
