There are two sampling techniques that students tend to get confused and mixed up about: Stratified sampling and cluster sampling. In your own words, briefly describe the difference between the two. Then give an example using one of the two (stratified or cluster) sampling techniques.

Here is an example: I am the principal at Dos Pueblo H.S. in Goleta. I would like to find out what my student population thinks about extending the lunch period from 30 minutes to 40 minutes. I decided to do a survey using a Cluster random sample. I divided by population (all students) into 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. I then administered a survey to every 11th and 12th grader at DPHS.
