you are not yet a participant in. To do this, will look at three sources that share a genre and use them to deduce some of the rules and expectations of that shape them. Your task in this essay is to address a series of questions about genre you're studying. You will not produce an essay, but you will write a series of well-crafted and carefully considered paragraphs. Avoid producing a list of answers to the individual questions. You should instead use the set of questions to produce a single unified response to the prompt.

None of these prompts can be addressed with a single sentence, or even a couple of sentences. Your answers should be thoughtful and well-developed. Use quotations as needed to help a reader understand your analysis or to support claims you've made.

How is the genre presented? What structural or organizational elements appear throughout the examples? What are those features helping the writers accomplish?

How is the essay written at the sentence level? Are the sentences complex or simple? Are they long or short? What kind of specialized language do you see?

Who is the audience for these documents? What do they seem to know? What do they seem to expect? How have the answers to the previous prompts led you to these conclusions?

How accessible is this genre to a young writer? What things would a young writer have to be careful of when attempting to join this community?
