App for Electricity Smart Meter You are developing an app that connects to the electricity smart meter from assignment 1. As a reminder, this smart meter is used in the home to help households control their energy consumption. The meter has to be installed by an electrician (does not have to be a power company employee), but then needs to be initialized by calling the power company to activate it. Once installed, the homeowners/occupants can interact with the smart meter wirelessly via the mobile app to view their electricity consumption data. Your goal in this assignment is conduct interviews, analyze the data and use your learnings to write requirements for the mobile app. 1. First, Identify your learning goals - what do you want to learn from your interviews? Remember, the goal of the interviews is to identify functional and non-functioal requirements for your app. 2. Write an interview script that includes your questions. Your interview script should follow the format outlined in Slide 8 of this week's lecture. Also, make sure to follow the "asking good questions" advice from this week's lecture (slides 24-28). You should have enough questions to conduct a 30-to-45-minute interview. 3. Pilot test your interview script with a friend before conducting your 5 interviews. Iterate on your script as needed. 4. Recruit 5 representative primary users and conduct your interviews. 5. Analyze your data in relation to your learning goals. 6. Use the learnings from your interviews to write a set of functional and non-functional requirements to comprehensively describe the app to a software developer. 7. Write report (see next slide). Report should include the following sections: - Introduction - brief (no more than 5 lines) overview of the product and why you are conducting interviews - Learning goals - list and explain the learning goals - Study participants - list the study participants' basic demographic data (e.g., age, gender, city, home owner or renter, and anything else you think is relevant) in a table. Explain why you selected each of these individuals. - Do not include any personal information about them like names or addresses, just refer to them as Participant A, B, C.. - Overview of method - detail how you executed the interviews. For example, when was your pilot, who did you do it with, when were your actual interviews, how and where did you conduct them, how long each session lasted, etc. - Learnings and requirements - present your key findings and how you translated those findings into requirements. - Include your interview script as an appendix
