This assignment is made up of two tasks, recommending a software management plan and researching tools to help with monitoring logs and creating baselines for PayYouMe. You may use both the textbook and the Internet to conduct research. And, while you are encouraged to respond creatively, you must cite any credible sources that support your responses. Please make sure to do the two tasks in order.

Each task has you put together an informal report, this is for your reference so that you have the information needed to write up and submit the assignment as a single memo which summarizes the key points and recommendations of the two tasks assigned.

Task $1-$ Recommend a Software Management Plan

Having made so many changes to the system, the original task team at PayYouMe now has concerns about the support and software management of the organization's Linux$-$based infrastructure. The team wants you to recommend a software management plan, keeping in mind the various servers that have been set up and the cost associated with the upkeep.

To provide this information to the team you will need to:

Create a high$-$level software management plan. You will want to consider options available from the open$-$source community as well as from commercial vendors. If you select a vendor, make sure you specify what software the vendor will support and how they will support it$.$

You will need to explain why PayYouMe needs to install anti$-$malware software on its Linux servers and provide the rationale for doing so$.$

You should also create a summary plan for applying patches and security updates to the Linux system.

Write an informal report, for yourself, that addresses these topics.

Task $2-$ Monitor Logs and Baseline

For this final task, you have been told that the PayYouMe team knows that they should be monitoring their systems, but they are not sure exactly what they need in order to do this. Therefore, they have asked you to research different monitoring tools for the company's Linux$-$based tiered infrastructure and recommend the appropriate tools and$/$or utilities.

In order to provide these recommendations, you will need to do the following:

First you will need to summarize the benefits of using remote logging$.$

Next, you will need to recommend a tool that can be configured to deliver a daily report from each server summarizing events found in log files.

You will also want to recommend tools or utilities that will:

a$.$ Alert administrators when files in the operating system have changed $($checking for file integrity$)$; and

b$.$ Check for new open ports
