investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission
(SEC) for allegedly using a certain accounting method to
change the reporting period for some of the costs
associated with the design of the 787(Dreamliner) and
new 747 aircraft. (If you Google "Boeing 787 accounting",
you can find articles.)
You are the Chief Ethicist (no, I don't believe any such job
title exists) for the Boeing Company. What would you
recommend, ethically - not legally - that the company do?
Should the reporting process be changed? (What effect
would changing to a stronger use of the Matching GAAP
have on the company's financial statements/stock
price/investors?) Remember that part of your annual
bonus is paid in Boeing Company stock...
If this particular accounting issue doesn't appeal to you,

past 10 years (not Enron, as we'll be covering that
separately) and describe how you would respond, again
as Chief Ethicist.
