This assignment will rely heavily on chapters 5 and 6.

You are being asked to think about your cultural identity. You are being asked to do a cultural inventory and really think about who you are.

How do you identify? How does your identity affect how you communicate with others? How do you think your perceived identities influence how others communicate with you?

Do you see a difference between sex and gender? If so, how do you distinguish between the two? If not, how are they the same? How does your gendered identity, or perceived identity, affect your communication?

When have you stereotyped a person or a group? Have you experienced any stereotypes that have had a negative impact on how you see yourself or how you move in the world? If so, how did that experience cause a shift? If not, why do you think that it?

Use the terms and concepts from chapters 5 and 6 as the foundation of your cultural identity examination.

You should AVOID saying the following:

• I don't see color
• I treat everyone the same
• I don't have a culture/race/gender/identity
