My topic for the final paper is "Elon Musk's Leadership Style during the SpaceX Dragon Launch." In May 2020, SpaceX successfully launched its Dragon spacecraft, marking the first time that humans were sent into orbit from American soil in nearly a decade. This event was significant for SpaceX and the entire space industry, as it demonstrated the company's ability to launch astronauts into space and return them safely to Earth. Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, played a crucial role in the success of this mission, not only through his technical expertise but also through his unique leadership style. In this paper, I will analyze Musk's leadership approach during the Dragon launch, examining his communication strategies, decision-making processes, and overall leadership philosophy. Through a careful examination of Musk's leadership style, I hope to gain insight into the qualities that make a successful leader in high-stress, high-stakes situations, and how those qualities can be applied to other fields and industries.
