This is a MATLAB assignment, the answer for this code would be greatly apreciated!
A rare species of blue bird on an island in the south pacfic is developing a rare disease involving the loss of flight, environmental specialists must find out the rate of infection in order to estimate how much time they have to create a cure.
Lets define x as the proportion of the population that is infected in week n, where 0 x n 1. In other words, if 7% of the population is infected in week 5, then x = 0.07. The analysts have taken into account both principles at play and they can confidently say that we can predict the infection rate in the next weekthat is, week n + 1 infection rate can be computed according to the following formula:
x= R x ( 1 x )
where R is a constant that accounts for the rates of disease transmission and infected bird survival. Equation (1) has repetition or recursion where the new value depends on the previous value.
Assume that currently, it is week 1, and about 0.01 % of the population is currently infected. Lets call this value x, and it equals 0.0001.
Next, prompt the bio-analyst for the infection rate R. Capture the value and store it in a variable. There are two variants with R values equal to 1.2 and 3.4, respectively.
Use the equation to calculate x. Then, with x apply the equation to calculatex, and so on. Store the values in an array. The loop should stop when either of these conditions is true:
- The disease has spread catastrophically defined as 50% of the population is infected ( x > 0.50 > 50 %)
- The computation ran the full 52 weeks of the year. We believe that we will have the vaccine in about 1 year.
So, we need you to take the two possible values of R and model the system to find out if the disease will spread widely or stay relatively contained over the next year.
In addition, make plots of the infection rate x versus the number of weeks for both R values. Properly format the plot to contain appropriate captions, axes, and labels. Save and include the plots
