This is a very intriguing question that I am sure will have various opinions by classmates. I personally do not believe that it was unethical for the clothing company to use the name and likeness. It sounds like it was a great marketing extreme for the company that they took a chance on and it went in their favor. It could have easily have not gotten any response or have had a greater negative toll on the company. After receiving the public outrage the company did ultimately decide to remove the references, which is on good faith for the company showing that perhaps they did push the boundaries some. I believe that people are intrigued by known (famous) people regardless of what they are famous for. The company could have made a better choice for their celebrity sighting or have paid a celebrity to promote their clothing instead of pointing out the fact that El Chapo was wearing their shirts. I do not view it as unethical though. There were also enough buyers to keep selling out the shirts which means that there were enough people that also did not feel that it was unethical of the company. What are your thoughts? Do you agree?
