Deploy Cube
Download data warehouse file (AdventureWorksDW2012) from the blackboard, attach it to your SQL server and Grant Database Permissions
If you installed Analysis Services as the default instance, using the default account, the service is running as NT Service\MSSQLServerOLAPService.
In Management Studio, connect to the database engine instance. Expand the Security folder, right-click Logins and select New Login.
On the General page, in Login name, type NT Service\MSSQLServerOLAPService (or whatever account the service is running as), Click User Mapping. Select the checkbox next to the AdventureWorksDW2012 database. Role membership should automatically include db_datareader and public.
Create an Analysis Services project
Define data source(chose AdventureWorksDW2012) and data source views( select DimCustomer (dbo), DimDate (dbo), DimGeography (dbo), DimProduct (dbo),
FactInternetSales (dbo) )
Change the names: DimCustomer ->Customer, DimDate -> Date, DimGeography -> Geography, DimProduct -> product
Create first dimension using Date table, only select the columns below:
Date Key
Full Date Alternate Key
English Month Name
Calendar Quarter
Calendar Year
Calendar Semester
Change the data type of following columns:
Full Date Alternate Key to Date
English Month Name to Month
Calendar Quarter to Quarter
Calendar Year to Year
Calendar Semester to Half Year
Define a Cube
Choose InternetSales as a measure group table, clear measures of the following columns: Promotion Key, Currency Key, Sales Territory Key, Revision Number
Select Existing Dimensions page, make sure the Date is selected
In Select New Dimensions page, verify that the Customer, Geography, and Product check boxes are selected, and then clear the InternetSales check box.
Adding Attributes to customer Dimensions
In the dimension structure of customer dimension, move the columns below to customer dimension
