Hello, and welcome to the course! My name is Dr. Duane Johnson, and I'm excited to be your instructor. I live in a suburb outside Houston, Texas, where I own and operate a private counseling practice. My academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision, a Master's in Counseling with a specialization in School Counseling, and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology.

My professional background is diverse. I've worked as an adolescent male unit therapist at a local mental health hospital, served as a school counselor in the Humble Independent School District, and worked as a district behavior specialist. Before transitioning into counseling and administrative roles, I was a special education teacher for four years. These experiences have shaped my passion for education and counseling, and I'm particularly enthusiastic about online teaching. My dissertation, titled "The Experiences of Counselor Educators Who Develop Online Courses with CACREP Standards," reflects my commitment to effective online education.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my wife and two children. We love riding bikes along the greenbelt trails, traveling, and relaxing together at home. Below, you'll find a welcome video to help you put a face to my name. I encourage you to attach a photo in your class introduction so I can do the same for you.
