Statement of Purpose and Justication The purpose of this survey instrument is to collect data about a) how socially isolated were Mission and W'est Valley college students during the COVEl9 pandemic; b} how depressed were Mission and west Valley college students during COVE19. There is no reasonable alternative way to gather this information without seeking information from and opinions of the college students about the topics mentioned above. The findings of this survey will determine the rate of depression throughout the pandemic. This study collects collaborated data om Mission College and West Valley College students. The article \"Mental Health and Its Inuencing Factors among SelfIsolating Ordinary Citizens during the Beginning Epidemic of COVIJlg\" aims to explore the mental health status of college students during the beginning of the COVEl9 epidemic and identify a spike in anxiety and depression contributing factors influencing mental health during selfisolation such as employment status= financial burden= education= and physical health (Zhao= All: Tan, & Li= 2020) This prior research= conducted in 2020. led our team to extend the datato retrieve an oven'iew of Mission College and West Valley College students' experience of selfisolation and depression rates during the COV ) 19 pandemic. This poll 1will assist us in better understanding how the epidemic has a \"ected Mission College and West Valley students" mental health. The survey is part of the project's outcomes-"asses sment proces s= and the results will help us understand among which of those students who lived alone or lived with one or more people felt socially isolated and depressed during the COVIDIQ pandemic. Hypothesis The hypothesis is that people who lived alone were severely depressed compared to those who lived with other people or family members. Methods Section Subjects: Approximately 50 Mission College and West Valley college students will be surveyed. Data and Results SectionWe are students from the Research Methods class at Mission College. We are studying depression and isolation related to COVID-19's impact. The variables examined were their depression rate and how socially isolated the survey takers were from both Mission and West-Valley College during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is determined by the household size. This study was conducted by surveying 47 Mission and West Valley college students. 1. Age Group: The majority of the respondents, accounting for 66%, were between the ages of 20 to 29 years old. Meanwhile, 19.1% of the respondents were 19 or below, 8.5% were aged 30 to 39, and 6.4% were 40 and above. The distribution of respondents in this study shows that the sample is relatively young, with a significant proportion falling within the traditional college age range. This finding is consistent with the notion that most college students were between the 18 to 24-year-old age group. Social isolation has been a common consequence of these changes, and social isolation can adversely affect mental health. The pandemic has brought about numerous stressors= such as social isolation= economic uncertainty= and fear of contracting the virus= contributing to depression symptoms. These ndings highlight the importance of providing menta. health support and resources to college students during times ofcrisis= such as the COVIDlg pandemic. It is essential to provide students with access to counseling services= online resources, and other forms of support to help them cope with the stress and uncertainty brought about by the pandemic. The \"Convenient Sampling\" approach will identify the depression rate among Mission College and 'Nest Valley students and how socially isolated they were. The student surveyors will reach out to their current classes. which include professors= approval and students= voluntary participation in this online survey. With this study. participants will learn more about how CUV'IDIQ has influenced their mental health. specically the impact of selfisolation and the measurement of their depression. There are no anticipated risks to the subjects. Respondents will not be compensated in any way. Materials and Devices: The survey tool that will be used to gather the data is attached. Basic demographic inquiries and questions about selfisolation and depression during COV )19 are covered inthis survey instrument. Procedures: Mission College and \\Vest Valley students asked to participate in this study will be directed to a secure online survey platform. It will take about ve minutes to complete the survey. No personally identiable information will be collected. and all comments will remain anonymous . Confidentiality: No personally identifiable information (e.g name. address. contact information) will be collected through a survey or field observation. Any surveys inadvertently including names or other identifying information will be immediately destroyed. Once the survey data has been input into an electronic database. the original survey forms will be destroyed along with any information linking the electronic data 1with the original survey. Consent Document: The survey will have a permission form that describes the study"s objectives. the privacy of the data, and the voluntary nature of participation. Before starting the survey. participants must confirm their consent. which is included in Mission College Psych13 letterhead. Data Collection Instrument: See attached survey instrument
