This is the complete outline
You can attach your Front Matter, Outline, and APA list of References section all in one document. You start your speech with your Attention getter narrative and you do not say your Reference list.
You write your speech in the following order, then you rearrange the speech into the below template.
1. Audience Analysis
2. Topic
3. Speech Objectives: General Purpose, Specific Purpose, and Proposition
4. Conduct Research
5. Write Body of Speech (Problem/Need, Solution/Satisfaction, Visualization Steps)
6. Write Introduction of Speech (Attention Step)
7. Write Conclusion of Speech (Action Step)
8. Prepare you List of References
Simply copy the template below, paste it into a WORD document leaving everything bold. Then, turn off bold and fill in your content.
In each main point of the body, I wrote the words "Evidence." Here you give a fact from a source to support your claim--the main point. The evidence is to be proceeded by or followed by the word, "According to..." After the evidence, you give a personal narrative or example of your evidence. Something you did, witnessed, read about, learned in a speech, learned in from a professor, or watched a film or documentary,
Also, add an APA References section double spaced down from the last line of your Call to Action. I gave you the rules to APA References, you can also find a "cheat sheet" in the library or get the APA Documentation Style Hand book. It is in the Library.
You can also "Google" APA Documentation Style. The first thing that comes up is Purdue OWL. It is currently up to date and you can find how to list your source by going down the column on the left and clicking on the type of source you have. I also have an example at the end of this template outline.
Read your outline out loud to be sure it makes sense. You will have to cite three times in your speech to your classmates using the phrase, "according to...."
A "clean" template is posted below In this Module and Below. You can copy this one and not have to delete any of my content. If you see a (:) colon, you must provide content after it. Remember, all Evidence must be followed by the words, "According to..." You have to have content for every bullet point and roman Numeral except in Action Step.
