This passage need analysis and breakdown .
The most recent shift in supply and demand I have noticed if in the dairy industry. many farms are closing and some of the huge dairy operations are filing for bankruptcy protection. This is due to the changing views of dairy milk and the increase in options and tastes in the vegetalbe/Nut/ Oat milk. Personally, I am meeting more people who are completely vegan more often than I used to and I've found more people who have just moved away from dairy milk for alternatives like oat milk like myself. some people do it for health reasons and others are doing it for the conditions the animals are being kept in. "During Dairy Farmers of Americas (DFA) annual meeting in Kansas City, Mo., the cooperative reported that net sales fell by $1.1 billion, a decrease of 7.5% from 2017. For 2018, net sales were totaled at $13.6 billion. The previous year net sales equaled $14.7 billion" (Bechtel, 2019). This huge loss in profits is due to the decrese in demand of animal milk and overproduction. The textbook explained how if the demand for a product or service increases and supply stays the same then equilibrium quantity goes up, and the equilibrium price goes up. however, if the demand decreases and supply increases then equilibrium quantity could go up, down, or stay the same, and equilibrium price will go down (Froeb, McCann, Shor, & Ward, 2016). So because the demand for milk has gone down and at the beginning of the falling dairy manufacturers were still producing at their standard rate which caused the equilibrium pride to crash
