This week we will start using Tableau for data visualizations. Tableau allows not only to build visualizations from a single dataset but to combine datasets prior to visualizing them.
The assignment is to visualize peach growing in Missouri, and the number of farmers markets where those peaches can be potentially sold.
List of Farmers market in Missouri: Missouri Farmers's MarketsLinks to an external site.
To obtain the information about number of farms in the areas and crop productions use USDA crop acreage dataset:Crop Acreage DataLinks to an external site.
Directions
First, make sure that you have Tableau either installed or you have access to the cloud version.
After watching videos "Getting Started" and "Tableau Prep" you are asked to create your first data visualization.
Prepare data using the two datasets given above. Build a visualization that would show (no map should be used) a distribution of peach manufacturers and the production of peaches in Missouri by county, and the number of farmers markets in those counties. The visualization should help anyone who decides to invest in peach farm to decide what is the most favorable county to grow peaches with maximum farmers markets to sell the produce.
Note that the dataset gives information on different types of peaches, use your best judgement on how to handle it.
The submission format is *.twbx, and you can save your workbook into that project using File->Export Packaged Workbook.
