This week's discussion forum relates to Chapter 4, specifically. You have been asked to think about the distinction between criminal law and civil law in both the Chapter 3 and 4 lectures. As this is a Business Law course, we do not cover criminal law at all (expect for when we went over the details for a "Citizen's Arrest"). However, as you will have learned when reading Chapter 4 in your e-text and viewing the lecture, acts that injure an individual can be considered a non-criminal tort.

For this week's discussion post, answer question #1 in the "Cases and Discussion Questions" at the end of Chapter 4 (Chopra v. Eaton (T.) Co.).

In your discussion, you must: 1) identify what actsshould be consideredcriminal, and therefore up to the Police andPublic Prosecution Service (Crown)to decide if prosecution is warranted; 2) state what could/should be actionable as a case in tort in a civil court; and 3) comment on what you think would/should be considered "reasonable behavior" on behalf of each ofthe parties in a case such as this. As always, feel free to draw upon personal experience if you can.
