This week's discussion relates to Chapter 4, specifically. In your Chapter 4 journal entry, you were asked to think about the distinction between criminal law and civil law. As this is a Business Law course, we do not cover criminal law at all. However, as you will have learned when reading Chapter 4 and viewing the lecture, acts that injure an individual can be considered a non- criminal tort. For this week's discussion post, answer question #1 in the "Cases and Discussion Questions at the end of Chapter 4 (Chopra v. Eaton (T.) Co.). In your discussion, you must: 1) identify what acts should be considered criminal, and therefore up to the Police and Public Prosecution Service (Crown) to decide if prosecution is warranted; 2) state what could/should be actionable as a case in tort in a civil court; and 3) comment on what you think would/should be considered "reasonable behavior" on behalf of each of the parties in a case such as this.
