This week's problem is to answer in favor for or against of the following question: Can a city's annual multi-million-dollar subsidy for a sport facility be justified on grounds other than direct economic impact? In other words, do things like social bonding, increased community visibility, or shared social experiences that are generated by a sports team justify a city paying millions of dollars to a private sports team? Your task is to argue in favor of or against the justification. In 300-400 words pick one side to argue, then develop two or three strong and persuasive points that support your position. Your response should take the form as a letter to an editor of a newspaper. That is, pretend you are writing a letter/blog post to a news outlet that will be featured for others to see. How you choose to format the letter is up to you (feel free to have fun with it).
