Though I could chat with you about statistical process control for days on end, I have to get going so one final question. Somebody said that looking at control charts is like looking in the rear view mirror of your car in that you see where you have been but you get no indication of where you are going. I have heard a similar analogy to the utility of quarterly financial reports in that they tell you what happened but by then it is too late. Why use control charts if that perspective is true?
