Question:
Tipping workers in the service industry has traditionally been a reward for good service, and it has been an important supplement to their incomes. However, a recent report by Angus Reid finds that tipping percentages have increased, and many consumers think tipping has gone too far.
The Context
You work in the head office of a small restaurant chain. Your manager has requested that you provide a brief, initial report on the issues and concerns surrounding tipping. Your report is intended as a lead-in to further discussion on whether or not your company should consider keeping tipping for its restaurant employees. Your brief report will be read by an audience of senior managers in various departments as well as restaurant managers.
In the report, you will discuss the issues and concerns with this topic, by critically assessing different points of view and presenting your findings in a short report that uses the direct approach.
