After receiving the question$($s$)$ I would review over the company provided policies and information. If the question$($s$)$ are extremely sensitive$,$ I would ask them to direct them to HR or the D&I officer. From a position of leadership, l$\text{'}$d let them know that I value their question$($s$)$ and would be there for them until they are comfortable in the area of question. After some time has passed, I would follow back up to see if they had any other questions or concerns. Ultimately D&I is a very popular area of interest for many people and it is constantly developing. It is best to allow individuals that specialize in the subject to entertain these questions. Response
