To launch the class project we need ideas for new businesses. For this assignment, each of you will come up with an idea for a new business. So what counts as an idea? It can be a new product that a business could be built around (e.g. line of survival backpacks) or a service leg. an online gift basket company specializing products from around the world). What you should not focus on is a small, stand alone business such as a coffee shop, bar, restaurant, etc. We are looking for ideas that are innovative and scalable so if it must be a bar then it should be one with a unique competitive advantage that can be duplicated into a chain of bars. While brainstorming, don't get hung up on innovative - completely new to the world. It's fine if direct competition exists; your challenge will be to focus on what will make your idea unique from existing competition Once you have your idea you will submit on the Discussion Board with the following information: 1. a description of the idea 2. a discussion of the problemit solves for customers or the important needs it satisfies (this will evolve into the Value Proposition) 3. a discussion of the typical, likely customer for the idea (this will evolve into the Target Market or Customer Segments) 4. a listing of existing ideas/businesses it will compete with
