Problem statement: The current manufacturing process at the plant includes the installation of Box Top Moldings on units intended for aftermarket accessories such as the Multi$-$Function Roof System $($MRS$)$ and Canopy. These moldings, once installed, are non$-$serviceable and non$-$reusable. Therefore, when the vehicle reaches the Vehicle Manufacturing Center $($VMC$),$ these moldings must be removed and replaced if any modifications are needed. In the case of Canopy units, the moldings are entirely unnecessary and should not be installed at all. As a result, the Box Top Moldings are removed and discarded at the VMC$,$ leading to substantial scrap and waste.
