Check the adequacy of a diagonal truss in carrying a nominal tensile load of 715 kN (Analysis was on basis of dead load only). The member is made of steel of Grade S355JR. Initially the member consisted of a 120 X 12010 angle on the outside only, and later it was reinforced with a 1205513 channel on the inside. The two sections are connected by a single row of M24 bolts in the centre of the sections and spaced at 65 mm centre to centre. The end distance is 60 mm as depicted in Diagram Q1. The holes in the members are punched.
