An analysis has been undertaken by the industrial engineering staff in consultation with the activity managers. The activity listed below can be crashed. Reduce the project duration as much as cost justified by crashing selected activities. Remember, you must crash the whole activity and that the crashing ranking is $1)$ Critical Path, $2)$ Lowest Crash Cost, $3)$ Earliest in the Project

$1.$ Develop & Issue Computer Hardware RFP

A Subcontractor can assist with the writing of the hardware RFP$,$ such that the activity duration can be reduced from $6$ days to $3$ days for an added cost of $$2,000$ to the activity.

$2.$ Software Documentation

The software vendor can reduce the duration of this activity from $8$ days to $4$ days through the use of additional staffing and overtime, at a cost of $$3,500.$

$3.$ Post Systems Manager Position Announcement

As per TC policy, the posting period for the new systems manager position can be reduced form $10$ days to $3$ days by using overnight and electronic mailing of the announcement to all TC locations, and accepting electronic applications. The added cost to the activity would be $$3,000$

$4.$ Modify Software

The Software vendor can work weekends and overtime to make the required software modifications. The activity time can be reduced from $15$ days to $5$ days, for an added cost of $$5,000$ to the activity.

$5.$ Associate Training

By training over the weekend, TC can reduce the training activity time from $5$ days to $3$ days at an additional activity cost of $$7,000$ in overtime and expenses. This option may create serious quality problems.

$6.$ Relocate Systems Manager

The new systems manager can be housed at additional expense in a hotel temporarily to reduce relocation time from $10$ to $8$ days. The added cost to the activity would be $$4,000.$

$7.$ Construct Building Space

The conversion of the building space can be accomplished by a subcontractor, working $24$ hours a day, with a reduction in construction time from $6$ to $3$ days for an added activity cost of $$2,000.$
