Discussion Board Requirements:

For PMG300, each unit covers two chapters of our primary textbook, Larson, and you are expected to achieve weekly Project Management proficiency through assigned SmartBook readings, application of readings to Wednesday Discussion Boards (DBs) spanning both chapters, and knowledge competency of the chapters through LearnSmart Exams each Sunday.

As hybrid assignments covering both chapters, DBs are expected to be 400 to 500 words in length, with Larson as the primary course connection / reference, and at least one additional course reference or outside source applied to your discussion.

DBs shall adhere to the DB Guidelines, and shall be clearly constructed multiple paragraphs compositions, with APA Footers and In-Text Citations.

Larson Learning Objective 13-1, Identifies the four steps for controlling a project.

Control is the process of comparing actual performance against plan to identify deviations, evaluate possible alternative courses of actions, and take appropriate corrective action. The project control steps for measuring and evaluating project performance are:

Setting a baseline plan

Measuring progress and performance

Comparing plan against actual

Taking action

Please answer the following:

For a project you have participated in academically, personally, or professionally, how did you apply the four steps of control, what was your experience in doing so, and was the project successful - did it complete on time and within measurement parameters required?

Part 2:

Larson Learning Objective 14-1 Identifies different types of project closure.

On some projects the end may not be as clear as would be hoped. Although the scope statement may define a clear ending for a project, the actual ending may or may not correspond. Fortunately, a majority of projects are blessed with a well-defined ending. Regular project reviews will identify projects having endings different from plans.

Following are the types of closure: 1) Normal, 2) Premature, 3) Perpetual, 4) Failed Project, 5) Changed Priority

Please answer the following:

Identify two different projects you have participated in academically, personally, or professionally, that resulted in two different closure modes from the five listed above.

Describe each result, and how the project characteristics paralleled those of the closure modes.
