Unit VIII Final Project

For this final project, you will make recommendations for improvement to the emergency operations plan. Your presentation will outline your critical review of the current plan and recommended areas for improvement. Your audience for this is the elected officials at the city or county level, such as the county board of supervisors or city council.

Do the following tasks:

• Identify the local emergency operations plan and its content.
• Share your evaluation of the plan's completeness. Use your analysis from Unit I and the additional insights you have gained in this course.
• Identify the strengths of the plan. Consider its relevance, currency, inclusiveness, availability, or ease of use. Analyze ways to plan and prepare for an emergency or disaster. Identify the weaknesses of the emergency operations plan. Consider appropriate address of primary hazards, completeness of the hazard identification and risk assessment, and the training and exercise plan.
• Analyze the concept of crisis management.
• Outline a plan of action for improvement. Share what you would do and consider identifying resource needs that you might need from these elected officials. Outline required coordination to complete an emergency operations plan or hazard mitigation plan.
