Initially, I felt somewhat nervous about how to effectively communicate during a tense situation while remaining professional and solution-focused. Although I have some real-world experience managing interpersonal issues, practicing this in a formal leadership scenario was new to me. As I reflected on the skills outlined by Northouse (2020), such as active listening, empathy, and reframing conflict as an opportunity, I gained more confidence in my ability to navigate difficult conversations constructively. Throughout the course so far, my understanding of leadership and management has deepened significantly. Before this course, I viewed leadership mainly as guiding and motivating others. Now, I see it as a complex balance of ethical decision-making, conflict resolution, fostering diversity and inclusion, and maintaining alignment with organizational values and goals. The concepts of transformational leadership, organizational culture, and the role of emotional intelligence have been especially eye-opening for me (Northouse, 2020).
