1. Study supply chains of your retailer. First, verify whether it is a direct or indirect supply chain. Then, investigate the structure of the network in detail (e.g. exclusive, selective, or intensive distributions) See LO2 Types of supply chains on page 189191. 2. Look at the headquarters or main manufacturing system/operations of your retailer. Then, pick a product as a finalized product that customers purchase at your retailing store. Find out an upper stream supply chain entity. It can be a supplier that supplies raw material or components or semi-finished goods for your finalized product. If the product is supplied as it is by a third-party company, then pick the third-party company or distributor or any other type of middleman. Investigate this supplier or distributor and provide the fulfillment process as detail as possible. (Here is an example. Let's say, you company is Wendy's. One of the products is Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Then, there must be a chicken supplier. Find the farm where the chicken comes from and investigate the procurement process.)
