$(1)$ describe each of the three basic types of research;

$(2)$ examine the common types of exploratory research and the characteristics and advantages$/$disadvantages of each;

$(3)$ summarize the characteristics and advantages$/$disadvantages of the classifications of descriptive research studies;

$(4)$ clarify the differences and advantages$/$disadvantages of the types of experiments; and

$(5)$ relate all of the above to our semester research project.
