The Problem Statement

• Current State: At Regional Medical Center less than 25% of medical supplies are supplied contractually through Cardinal Medical Surgical Prime Vendor.

• Impact: Lack of medical supplies reduces the mission vision for patients and decreases the capability to serve its community

• Desired End State: Regional Medical Center will stock at least 75% of medical supplies on contract by end of FY23 and withstand this amount subsequently.

1. Use a problem-solving tool to analyze the root cause: Five Why's, Fishbone, and Affinity Diagram are all useful.

2. Identify alternative solutions to address the root cause and problem statement.

3. Identify criteria and develop a rating approach for the criteria.

4. Develop a decision matrix and assess alternatives against selection criteria.
