Career Development Program With the "great recession" we have been facing, many organizations are finding it harder and harder to find and hire new employees. Not only that but many Baby Boomers in the workforce are retiring or going to retire. In fact, according to Pew Research Center, 10,000 people a day turn of retirement age. In addition, the work that organizations carry out to achieve their goals changes over time. It is in an organizations best interest to make sure they have employees who are prepared and willing to change to meet any new demands. Plus, most employees want to grow and develop as they advance in their jobs and career. One way organizations can help deal with these issues is to create a Career Development Program. Please create a Career Development Program that deals with the employees that have been in the workforce for at least 5 years and are already established in working at an organization. Address the following in your plan. Purpose Explain the purpose of the program and why the program was created an who can participate Goals • Create organizational program goals. (listing the goals with bullet points is fine) Assessments Research one to two assessment methods that you would recommend employees use to assess where they are now (ex: what skills and knowledge they have now and where they need to grow or develop). Describe briefly the one assessment method you would recommend using. Variety of Learning Methods • Describe a training program (what it would cover and whether it would be classroom style training or self-study, etc.) OR a special project that would assist an employee in their career growth, OR meeting with a mentor who could work with an employee who wants to develop. Feedback Mechanisms Determine how a manager would have regular feedback conversations with the employee about reaching their career development goals. Evaluation Describe how you would evaluate your Career Development program after it has been implemented.
