Introduction

workplace safety is a critical concern for maintenance companies, where employees are frequently exposed to potential hazards such as

mechanical failures, electrical risks, and chemical exposures just to name few. The complexity and diversity of tasks performed in

maintenance operations necessitate a robust safety management system that can adapt to various scenarios and mitigate risks effectively.

The introduction of integrated engineering approaches offers a promising solution to these challenges. By combining engineering

principles with safety management practices, maintenance companies can create safer work environments and enhance their operational

capabilities. This project explore the potential of such integrated approaches to transform workplace safety in the maintenance industry

Research methodology

Our research methodology is designed to systematically address workplace safety challenges in maintenance operations by integrating

engineering principles with safety management practices. The methodology is structured around the following key components;

Risk assessment and analysis

We conducted a comprehensive risk assessment using Failure Mode and Effects Analysis $($FMEA$)$ tools. These tools helped in identifying

potential hazards and prioritize them based on their severity, occurrence, and detection and get the overall RPN$.$ These approach was

used in a mechanical maintenance setting, where FMEA was used to evaluate$/$ identify the risk of equipment failure$/$ critical failure points

in a conveyor system which leaded us to implement a preventative maintenance schedules to reduce the risk of mechanical breakdown

allowing us to prioritize maintenance tasks that mitigate the critical failure
