Values Congruence Exercise Group Activity and this exercise has three unique goals:

1.) To assist students in prioritizing their core values in employment;

2.) To identify and document formal and informal channels and messages that communicate corporate values; and

3.) To enable students to target employers based upon a validated shared-values approach.

DIRECTIONS:

1.). Choose a primary values orientation based upon the following clusters:

RED Companies: Those which focus heavily on Employee-Centered Strategies.

BLUE Companies: Those that focus heavily on Community-Oriented Strategies

GREEN Companies: Those that focus heavily on Globally-Oriented Strategies

2.) Join a group of 4-6 people who share the same core values and form a team.

3.) Conduct research with your team - Find a company that shares the same primary values focus as your team (red, blue OR green). You will do this by finding evidence that is both formal and informal to support your belief that the company values what you do, and you will also consider the source of the evidence as being either internal to the organization or external to the organization.

Matrix of Evidence Sources (Two-variate analysis: Formal/Informal and Internal/External)

4.). Document the examples of the evidence you found. For example, is it true that this is a core value of the company? Document the sources of evidence and briefly state what the message was in a short entry on the template that corresponds to your teams primary values (color).

You do NOT need to complete this exercise for all three colors, only the one you picked .
