Sheridan College has released a Request for Proposal $($RFP$)$ seeking a comprehensive platform for organizing walkathon fundraisers. As alumni, you have a guaranteed chance for your proposal to be heard by a panel consisting of various heads of functional units such as IT$,$ EDI, Finance, Student Life, Student Union, Advancement, and Presidents Office. Of the many entries, only one will be selected to proceed. The college aims to extend its students' involvement in community events, especially focusing on First Nations and International student challenges related to healthcare, mental health, nutrition, addictions, and affordable housing. The proposed platform should facilitate walkathon events, making it easy for students to organize, raise funds, and create awareness for these important issues. You hear through the grapevine that a federal grant has been awarded to help see this activity worth between $$60-$ $$100$K$.$ More exciting news is that an angel investment company, Great North Thinking, will entertain the winning bid for potential investment, since this type of software would not only suit Sheridan College. What is a walkathon? $($Internet$$ definition$)$ A walkathon is a fundraising event that involves participants walking a specific distance or route to raise money for a particular cause, charity, or organization. It is a popular form of community engagement and fundraising, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds to support a common goal. In a walkathon, participants typically gather pledges or donations from friends, family, colleagues, and other supporters who pledge to contribute a certain amount for each kilometer or mile walked. The more distance the participants cover, the more funds they raise for the cause. Walkathons are often organized for various charitable purposes, including medical research, education, poverty alleviation, environmental conservation, and more. They are known for promoting physical activity, fostering a sense of community, and raising awareness about important social issues. The events are usually wellorganized, with designated starting and finishing points, water stations, first$-$aid facilities, and sometimes entertainment or activities along the route. Participants often receive event t$-$shirts, "bibs" with participant numbers, and other goodies as part of their registration packages. Walkathons are not limited to walking; similar events can involve activities like running, cycling, or even swimming, depending on the theme and preferences of the organizers. Project Objectives: Your task is to propose a plan, complete with models for schedule, costing, design and analysis for the Walkathon Fundraiser Platform Information Systems. You need to propose a system that fulfills both the functional and non$-$functional requirements while considering appropriate designs for the architecture, user interface, data management, and software components as well as present a backlog, work breakdown, schedule, costs, and benefits. Walkathon scenario in scope of the RFP$.$ Walkathon organizers can create events, selecting event dates, locations, timings, and trails. Each event is assigned to an internal account code controlled by the school finance department. These events and details should be posted on the platform. Each event should have its own link, to make it easier for participants to promote their cause. Participants can sign up for events using the platform. They have the option to provide personal information and photos to attract donors. Alternatively, registration with an avatar is possible for those who prefer not to share personal details. Donors should be able to search for participants they know and pledge donations to support their chosen participant's event. The system should automatically send reminders to participants one week and one day before the event, along with information kits. Participants should check in at the registration desk on the event day, receiving a "bib" with a part with a participant number and a SWAG kit.
