Watch the new videos of the one-on-one performance feedback given to each of the trainers, as well
Question:
Watch the new videos of the one-on-one performance feedback given to each of the trainers, as well as the Trainer's responses
After having watched the videos, determine how you would respond to each Trainer (as the Training and Development Director).
Enter Discussion Board 2.2 and post your responses to the questions that follow the case. After having posted your responses, respond to the posting of a minimum of two of your peers.
Trainer one was disrespectful, arrogant, and clearly did not know the training material but had no respect for other members of the group. The trainer did not address a question for elaboration on the training materials and then he exited the group stating he was taking a break to get coffee. This is a horrible example of what a trainer should be. This individual needs more training and guidance to be successful in teaching training materials to others. As the training and development director I would ask the trainer how he felt that the training session went and then would address the negative tone and approach to the training session. I would also review the tenure and possible refresher training for the trainer to help him better communicate with his class.
Trainer two began the training session promptly and greeted the class by asking how they were? The trainer then moved onto covering any questions over the material and engaged the class by asking questions to clarify. By praising the students that responded she built a positive learning environment where all would feel comfortable discussing the materials. The trainer was precise and helpful In assisting the students with locating the information in the textbook. This trainer is successful and would be an asset to the organization. As the training and development director I would highlight all of the positive training opportunities and let her know that she did a wonderful time. I feel that this trainer has the drive to educate and succeed and it would be a perfect time to begin to groom her for the career path she wants to take.
Trainer three was not engaged from the beginning of the meeting, he seemed distracted and ill prepared to present to the class. The trainer just read verbatim from the text without opening the floor for discussion or questions. The trainer was unable to correctly answer the question presented, he clearly did not know any of the material he was teaching and was nervous when asked anything. Once confronted with a question the trainer then suggests a break which further displays his inability to teach the material. I believe that this trainer needs to better prepare and review prior to the training class. As the training and development director I would express my concern for the negative outlook that the trainer states was his expectation. I would review the notes taken during the training and ask the trainer if he would like to participate in a refresher of train the trainer to build his confidence and encourage him to be better prepared. I would also let him know that the refresher will assist in training how to interact with the students as well.
