Balanced Scorecard In an attempt to reflect the particular needs of each stakeholder group in a performance measurement system, accountants have developed what is termed a balanced scorecard. (Balanced refers to the fact that the scorecard looks at more than just the bottom line or one or two other performance measures.) A key feature of the system is that it is tailored to what senior management and branch-level management can control. Process Dashboards In contrast to the balanced scorecard, which focuses on organizationwide performance data, process dashboards are designed to provide summary performance updates for specific processes. Dashboards consist of a selection of performance metrics presented in graphical form with color-coding of trend lines, alarms in the form of exclamation marks, and so forth, to show when key indicators are nearing a problem level.
