Week 8 Homework: Analyzing Suspect Data Please, complete the following activity: In this activity, you will use The Sleuth Kit and Autopsy running on a Windows forensic workstation (your home computer) to conduct deep examination of the image acquired from a suspect's Linux computer. Download The Sleuth Kit from Course Materials - Chapter 8 Materials section of this course, or from this link: http://www.sleuthkit.org/sleuthkit/download.php Unzip The Sleuth Kit Download Autopsy from Course Materials - Chapter 8 Materials section of this course, or from this link: http://www.sleuthkit.org/autopsy/ Install Autopsy Copy the entire image file that youve got from your instructor (GCFI-LX.xxx.exe) to your Desktop, and double-click it to unzip Once The Sleuth Kit and Autopsy are setup, and the image file is copied to your Windows forensic workstation, please, conduct the deep investigation of the image file. Try to use all possible search options, and find as much information as possible about people, their occupations, habits, contacts, businesses, hobbies etc. Make sure to use the timeline feature of the software. Please, note, that it might take up to 4 hours for the software to proces the entire image. Therefore, make sure to use a desktop computer for this activity, NOT a laptop PC. Also, you can start analyzing the data once the progress bar indicates 50%; Post a thread describing your discoveries.
