Question:
What all statistic tests would need to be run for each scenario?
It seems like this should be simple but I don't want to mess it up. The charts below were given to start us off as guides but I received very little addition information.
Research study comparing cognition of placebo and supplemented groups, tested at baseline, 2 months, 4 months and 6 months.
Scenario A Medium effect size (0.5) power of 0.8 alpha level of 0.05 Total sample size of 118 participants; four groups of 29 participants per group
Scenario B Medium effect size (0.5) power of 0.8 alpha level of 0.05 Total sample size of 64 participants; two groups of 32 participants per group
Parametric tests (means) | Nonparametric tests (medians) |
1-sample t test | 1-sample Sign, 1-sample Wilcoxon |
2-sample t test | Mann-Whitney test |
One-Way ANOVA | Kruskal-Wallis, Mood's median test |
Factorial DOE with one factor and one blocking variable | Friedman test |
Parametric analyses | Sample size guidelines for nonnormal data |
1-sample t test | Greater than 20 |
2-sample t test | Each group should be greater than 15 |
One-Way ANOVA |
