Question:
Class, When responding to an opinion that is different from ours, it is important to practice civility. According to some, civility is at risk of being a lost art. To get a better idea of what civility is... specifically in the public or political forum... take a look at the website provided below. If you click on the "training" tab, you will see a list of workshops they provide... I want you to notice the titles of the workshops. The first one is Know Thyself.... this is so important. I think that many arguments come from an insecurity within ourselves that if someone disagrees with us, it invalidates the legitimacy of our argument or feelings. So, we get defensive. Being okay with ourselves first, allows us to be okay with others and their opinions and thoughts. I hope you enjoy this site and this discussion!
