What do you think about the following post? Should the process identified actually be considered a "process"? That is, does it meet the definition of "a set of specified steps to accomplish a task"? Why or why not?
Do the functional requirements listed support the selected process?
Are the functional requirements clearly stated such that system testers will be able to ascertain whether or not the requirement has been implemented?
Provide an example of a rewritten functional requirement that improves one of the existing user requirements in the information provided above.
"The process I have chosen is the release of manual purchase orders. In a world where everything is automated why cant purchase orders be optimized and transmitted automatically? In my job I constantly have stores reaching out to request products. One or two isnt hard to manage but when it is 200 stores per day asking for multiple items, things get a little more complicated. There isnt enough time in the day. I must check 3 different systems to find the ship unit for each item, the cost for each item, and the weights per pallet. I think there is a huge opportunity here to find a way to have stores put their requests into a system that will automatically generate the order and streamline the entire process.
To start the process a store team member will input their store number, item number, and quantity needed from there the system takes over:
The system must find the source (vendor) for each item.
The system must find the cost of each item.
The system must find the ship unit of each item.
The system must find the weight of each pallet.
The system must find the weight constraints for shipping.
The system must build a truckload with these items.
The system must create a purchase order number.
The system must transmit the order to the correct source (vendor).
The system must provide an estimated time of arrival for the purchase order.
Each step in this process must be met before moving on to the next step. If one step cannot be completed, then the system will reject the request and send a message to the corporate contact responsible for the item."
