What has resonated with me over the last seven weeks is how race plays a part in earnings, and education attainment. Seeing the percentages in the textbook enlightened me that history still plays a role in communities today. There are still improvements needed to limit disparities and encourage equality. Thus far in this course, I have relearned important concepts, such as stereotyping. Also, I have gained knowledge about unconscious biases. Learning about unconscious biases helped me to examine my own thought processes when interacting with people in specific groups. Although I do not ever intend to judge anyone, I have learned that there can be judgments I am unaware I am making. which can affect how I view people. Unconscious biases about people are prevalent in more categories than just race; it includes age, gender, and more. The concept of unconscious biases allows people to examine their thoughts about others. I do not think anyone should automatically believe they do not have unconscious biases, because there is a self-evaluation process that must be done to reveal these biases. In the future, I intend to work in management positions, and one day be a business owner. I believe that by being aware that these biases exist, I will be able to prioritize fairness and give everyone the same opportunities, which I believe all employers should do. Furthermore.
