Question:
What, if anything, would you do to address this issue? You are a police officer for a public community college. Lately the campus has seen an increase in drugs and violent activity. One of the professors, who you know personally and happens to be a minority, approaches you one day and says he was stopped by a fellow campus officer for no reason. When the professor asked the officer the reason for the stop, the officer responded, "Oh, sorry. My mistake!" and sent him on his way. In fact, this is the third person in the past two weeks who has mentioned to you that this officer has stopped them for no reason; however, none of them have wanted to file a formal complaint. During shift change one day, the officer casually mentions that he's trying to lower crime on campus by "scaring off" anyone who doesn't seem to belong. Explain.
