) What is the specific problem with communication? During an exercise I was put on night shift for 12hrs straight with not much sleep and with a large amount of information constantly moving throughout my Unit (I'm in the US Army) I had a hard time keeping up with what I needed to know. Having being a driver at the end of one of my shifts, I was tired and had not heard my NCO (Non-Commissioned Officer) give me an order to wait before transporting soldiers back to our barracks to go get breakfast over all the commotion. Upon loading up the vehicle with soldiers I was given the clear by another NCO of the same ranking to take the soldiers back. In the end I had received a negative counseling for not properly communicating and resolving the conflict of orders. 2) Does the problem represent an example of one of the barriers that the articles that Dr. Rani and Lumen Learning identify? If so, which one(s)? Given that I was tired from a 12hr long shift in a room full of noise, the communication issue represents a environmental barrier and a informational overload. The environmental barrier is the time which the information was conveyed with the additional background noise. The informational overload was all the information I was trying to process after our brief and the additional information being given out at the time of the order.
