what will be your feedback based on Taylor's post? A disability doesn't just affect the person diagnosed but it has an impact on everything and everyone that they come in contact with. the world doesn't always accommodate those who aren't considered "normal". this is why neurotypical people should help advocate for disabled people and those with mental and physical disabilities (Leadbitter et al., 2021). The time to advocate is even more important than ever with the current climate of the government right now. People with disabilities are not seen as important in the world, and we have to step in and advocate for that change. I will always try my best to advocate for my clients, whether it is during IEP meetings, community resources, or community outreach. Our clients and their families deserve to have someone on their side, fighting for change. Families come to me all the time asking for favors, and when I can, I find every recourse possible for them. I think that when it comes to the question of "who can represent the disabled community?" is tough. Certain people in government want to speak on Autism who are not credited with doing so. We have influencers who are claiming to make cures and find the source of Autism, which is giving false hope to parents everywhere. There must be compassion, more than anything for humanity, that is what is actually lacking in that discussion (McCoy et al., 2020)
