When comparing incarcerated men and women, what do statistics indicate? There are slightly fewer men in prison than women, but for both groups racial distribution is proportionate to the general population. The male prison population is predominately white and significantly larger than the population of incarcerated women. The numbers of men and women in prison are evenly split, but incarcerated men are predominately white.
