When developing a training program the manager must consider who will be trained, what they need to learn, and the most effective program for delivering the training. In addition the program should be tailored for either new sales people or veteran salespeople since both groups have a different set of perspectives. Training for new salespeople will often focus on sales process and company culture. Training for veteran salespeople will focus on product attributes and competitive advantages.
