Question: When reporting results for a bivariate correlation why do I see the in summaries the reported level of significance

When reporting results for a bivariate correlation why do I see the in summaries the reported level of significance <.001? Is it not the number of significance I get from my correlation table? All samples I see show <.001 and I can't determine why.
