After NASA's measurement failure when launching the Mars Climate Orbiter, they later learned the cause was miscommunication between their team and the contractors they hired to build the spacecraft. Barriers they faced were building on a tighter schedule and reduced budgets in which I believe working on a time crunch played a significant role to this miscommunication. If they are rushing around to complete this task and forget to discuss the measurements they are going to use to build it, it will cause a major error like this. I believe if they were not pressured to build the craft in a time they have never been able to compete with before the failure could have been avoided. In the future, they could show examples of past mistakes to their team before giving them the assignments and making sure all communication has been met and not limiting time when building a major project that is so costly and on a budget at that. Being an effective communicator when in a management position, is the number tool of being a good leader. It is important to be transparent and let your team know of new ideas, work flow changes, or updates to make sure everyone is on the same page and able to do their work effectively.
